Your Opinion Counts!

In many places, the minimum age necessary to obtain a driver's license is 16 or 17.  Many people say this minimum age should be increased to 21.  In your opinion, what minimum age should be required to get a driver's license? State your opinion and support it with good reasons and facts. 

Describing a Location

Write about a certain location.  Write a topic sentence with a controlling idea.  Add details in your supporting sentences.  Check to make sure the adjectives mean what you want them to mean-positive or negative.  Be sure to use sensory adjectives (sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch). Use prepositional phrases of location in your paragraph.  Make sure your concluding sentence relates to the topic.  Try to use the vocabulary words or phrases from Activity 14 & 15.

What should you do if the server at a restaurant has given you your bill with an error on it? How can you rectify this situation?

Courage

We sometimes hear or read that a certain person showed great courage in doing something. What does the word courage mean to you? Give examples to help your readers better understand your definition of courage.

School Uniforms

In your opinion, is it a good idea to require all students to wear a school uniform? Give two or three strong reasons to support your opinion.  Be sure to include a strong concluding sentence.

Choose one of the topics.  With the brainstorming you completed on p. 68, write a complete paragraph.  Make sure your paragraph has a topic sentence, supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence.  Try to use two of the vocabulary words from p. 66 & 67.
